Original files
Unlike chat apps, nothing is recompressed or transcoded — you get the original bytes. Every file is checked with a sha-256 hash on arrival, and a single wrong byte fails the transfer.
No signup
You do not need an account, and the person receiving needs one even less — they just scan a code or type six digits. When you send something to a colleague, they should not have to sign up first.
No app install
It is just a web page — open it in a browser and it works. Phones, tablets, laptops, a locked-down work computer: all the same, and no extension needed.
Never through our servers
Our server only helps the two sides exchange “how to reach each other” once; the file itself travels over a direct browser-to-browser channel. The page shows live whether you are actually direct. On the rare networks that block it we fall back to a relay — and we say so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.
How do I transfer files from my phone to my computer?
Open this page on the computer and drag your files in. A QR code and a 6-digit code appear. Scan the QR code with your phone, or open this page on the phone and type those six digits — the transfer starts on its own. Photos, videos and documents all work, at original quality with no compression. You can drag in a whole album at once.
How do I transfer files from a computer to a phone (iPhone or Android)?
It works the other way round the same way: pick the files on the computer and let the phone scan the code or type it in. On iPhone the files land in the Files app and can be saved straight to Photos; on Android they go to the Downloads folder. Neither side installs anything, and you do not need to be signed into the same account — in fact you do not need an account at all.
Web AirDrop: how do I transfer between different brands and systems?
AirDrop only works between Apple devices — that is its biggest limitation. This is a web page, so any two devices with a browser can exchange files: iPhone and Android, Android and Windows, Mac and Windows, Huawei and Xiaomi, tablet and phone. If HEIC photos from an iPhone will not open on Windows, you can have them converted to JPG automatically.

How do I send large files between two computers?
Same as sending to a phone: one machine shows the code, the other scans or types it. There is no size limit — multi-gigabyte videos and tens of gigabytes of assets are fine. You can drag in an entire folder; it gets packed automatically with the directory structure intact. Transfers are streamed in chunks, so if the connection drops you resume instead of starting over.
No cable, no messaging app — what else can I use?
Messaging apps recompress photos and transcode video to save their own bandwidth, and some cap the size of a single file. Cables, meanwhile, are never where you left them or have the wrong connector. Neither problem applies here: files are sent as-is and verified with a sha-256 hash so the copy is byte-for-byte identical, and no cable is involved — the two devices just need to be online, not on the same Wi-Fi.
Do my files get uploaded to your servers?
No. Our server does exactly one thing: it helps the two sides exchange, once, the information needed to find each other. After that the file travels over a direct browser-to-browser channel and not a single byte passes through us. The top of the page shows in real time whether the connection is actually direct — that indicator reads the browser’s own connection statistics, it is not a hard-coded claim. A few corporate and campus networks block direct connections; when that happens we ask whether you want to use a relay instead, and we label it clearly as relayed rather than pretending it is still direct.
Do I need to register, download an app, or pay?
None of the three. The sender does not need an account and the recipient needs one even less — they just scan a code or type six digits. There is no paid tier either: unlimited transfers, no size cap, no throttling, nothing held back. Signing in only matters if you also want to save the files into your own cloud drive, which is a separate feature.
Is it secure? Could someone else receive my files?
The receiving code is generated by the server, expires after five minutes, can be used only once, and a room admits at most two devices. The transfer channel is encrypted by the browser itself (DTLS), so nobody on the network path can read the contents. The moment the other side connects, the top of your page shows which device joined, and you can cut the connection with one click. If you see a connection you were not expecting, just disconnect — whatever has not been sent yet never leaves your device.
How is this different from other file transfer tools?
Most online transfer services upload to their servers first and then hand the other person a download link. That is where size caps, expiry dates and paid tiers come from — they reflect the storage and bandwidth those services have to pay for. Here the file never reaches a server, so none of those limits exist. The trade-off is that both sides have to be online at the same time. If the other person cannot receive right now, you can instead save to your own cloud drive and send a share link — we offer that route too.

A few more common questions
If it drops halfway, do I have to start over?
No. Transfers go in chunks and whatever already arrived is kept, so reconnecting picks up where it stopped. If you close the page and come back, you will be told a transfer was left unfinished and can either resume it or save just the part that arrived.
What if it will not connect and just keeps spinning?
We will not leave it spinning until it times out. If the connection cannot be made we say so plainly and offer two ways forward: try a different network, or switch to a relay (the file is uploaded encrypted and deleted once collected). The usual cause is the two sides being on different corporate or campus networks, which block peer-to-peer traffic — switching one side to a phone hotspot usually fixes it.
Can two phones send to each other?
Yes, and in both directions at once. One phone opens this page and shows a code, the other scans it or types it in; once connected either side can drop files in, with no “who is the sender” switch to flip. Note that both phones scanning will not connect — one has to display and the other has to scan.
Can I send to several people at once?
One code admits exactly one device, and that is deliberate — allowing a second one would mean anyone who guessed the code could quietly receive the same files. To send to another person, hit “get a new code” when you are done; it takes a couple of seconds. If you need to reach many people at once, saving to the cloud drive and sharing a link is the better tool.
Is it safe to use on public Wi-Fi?
The channel is encrypted by the browser itself (DTLS), so others on the same Wi-Fi cannot read your files even if they capture the traffic. We also deliberately do not offer “automatically discover other people on this network” — in a café or a school that would list strangers to each other, which is a privacy accident waiting to happen. Joining requires knowing the six digits, and those expire in five minutes and work only once.
After the transfer, is anything left on your side?
On a direct connection the file never reaches us, so there is nothing to retain. Even the signalling room lives only in memory and disappears when the service restarts — nothing is written to a database. Files sit on our servers only if you explicitly choose the relay, and then they are deleted the moment they are collected, never kept beyond 24 hours, with a background job sweeping up anything left behind.
