What is the fastest way to get files from a phone to a computer?
Use the cross-device transfer page: open it on the computer, drag the files in, then scan the QR code with the phone or type the 6-digit code. The transfer starts by itself, goes peer-to-peer without touching a server, and needs neither a cable nor an account.
Does transferring files require an account or an app?
Neither. Cross-device transfer is open to any visitor, and the person receiving especially does not need an account — they just scan a code or type six digits. There is also no cap on how often, how large, or how fast. Only the cloud drive (keeping files on a server long term) needs an account, and that is a separate thing.
When transferring, do the files pass through your servers?
No. The server only helps the two sides exchange connection details once; after that the file goes over a direct browser-to-browser channel. The page shows live whether the connection really is direct, and on the rare networks that block it we offer a relay and label it clearly rather than pretending otherwise.
